Anyone who is a travel agent help me…?
I am interested in pursuing a career as a travel agent. I like the job description as well as salary. I live in Akron, Ohio which is a good place for that kind of career and eventually I’d like to move to Hawaii to work which it also has work for travel agents. Is anyone doing this profession that can give me a little more insight on what its like? I’d appreciate it, thanks!
You need a good knowledge of geography, tickets and fares up to level 3. You need to know how to get people from A to B within their budget and do it in a professional way. I’m not really sure how much agents are needed these days due to the internet and such as others have pointed out. I do know that agents may work irregular hours including nights and/or weekends since a lot of people would prefer to call on the weekends to plan their vacation.
If still interested, please consider the more affordable programs such as the county vo-tech school or community college (or even state uni if interested in bachelor’s degree) as opposed to those private $$ tech schools.
