What distance does light travel in diamond during the time that it travels 1.0 m in vacuum? I just need some help with setting up the problem…
The speed of light in a vacum is;
c = x/t (where c = 3 x 10^8 m/s)
so the time it takes to travel 1 m is;
t = x/c = 1/c
the speed of light in a diamond is say, v , and the distance it travels in time “t = 1/c” is;

the ratio c/v for a material is called the index of refraction “n” and can be looked up in a handbook or probably found if you google it.

Has anyone heard a theory about how light may travel on tracks?
Specifically that light may travel on some type of trace or track through space that only light can travel on. Different types of light traveling on different types of tracks accordingly. Traces or tracks simply being a special condition in space only because light is traveling. Hope that makes sense. Only way I know to say it.
Any type of matter that travels through space or time would have it’s own type of signature. Example: Radio Waves. According to what type of matter, space would adjust accordingly.
I never heard of it.
