How do I find players for a travel baseball team?
I am starting a 14u USSSA baseball team in Raleigh NC, and I’m trying to find players. If anyone has any ideas on how to get players, please respond.
Go to your local Little Little League and give out flyers to all the kids playing on those teams. Also go to all the high schools in your area and give out flyers to anyone that wants them. Have a tryout date and from there you can just pick the top 11-12 players from the group of tryout players.

Tips On Staying Fit While Traveling
You should never have to sacrifice your fitness level while on the road even if you’re traveling during cold winter months. Exercise is important and with a little research and planning, you should be able to keep up your routine even when traveling.
- Try booking a hotel with a fitness center and pool located on the property.
- See if your gym has a location in the city where you will be. If not, they might have a partnership with another gym.
- Get maps of the area you will be visiting and find the best walking paths and trails.
- If the weather is too bad to be outside, find a mall or other large indoor place where you can walk.
- Bring an exercise band with you for simple strength training exercises.
- A basic workout of situps, push ups, jumping jacks, yoga and stretching can be done just about anywhere.
- Try not to get off schedule. This will help you get back on your usual routine when arriving home, especially if traveling across multiple time zones where jet lag could potentially become an issue. Being mindful of your health helps combat unwanted fatigue.
- Know your surroundings. Do not go anywhere that may be dark or may make you feel uncomfortable. Ask at the front desk for safe areas before going on a walk or run.
- Bring workout clothes. Many find that by simply packing a pair of tennis shoes, there is an obligation to use them! You might be surprised how good it will feel to go for even a short walk or run once you’ve arrived at your destination after sitting in a plane for hours at a time.
- While on the plane, walk up and down the aisles sporadically to help circulation. Always be to sure to drink plenty of clear liquids and try to stay away from caffeinated beverages if you can.

How old should your daughter be to let her travel alone with her team in the club?
The team usually travels to other governorates and spends two or three nights. They are accompanied by the trainer (male) and a woman employee from the club. Would you insist on going with her and staying at the same hotel? What if your request is refused under the pretext that these girls should learn to be independent?
For me, the first time my parents let me travel with a group was 12. However, there were some girls in the group who couldn’t go because their parents were too afraid.
I think it really depends on your daughter and how mature and responsible, you think she is. Do you think she can handle being away from home for 3 nights? If the adults that will be chaperoning are responsible and if she is with people she likes and you trust, I say, why not. Could it also be that you don’t want her to be away from you for that period of time because you’ll miss her? She will learn independence but she’ll also bond and have a good experience with the people she’s with. If you let her go, then she should go without you. If other mothers are going, ok but you can’t be the only mother going simply because you don’t want her to go without you. Just trust and believe in her that you’ve taught her well. She’ll make you proud.
